Now I Lay Me Down.

A blog I was reading the other day (sorry, I can't remember which) talked about “Now I lay me down to Sleep”. The group is one made up of volunteer photographers who provide free professional photographs for parents whose babies die shortly after birth. The system allows parents to call in photographers to provide some lasting images of babies who have either already died, or who are soon to die.

I have got in touch with the organisation and feel completely overwhelmed by the whole thing. Its incredible. I am a photographer and feel I should offer my time. In honesty, I don’t know if I will be good enough, or if I will cope with it, but I feel I have to offer. I am tempted to wait until my baby is born, so that I can get used to photographing babies, as while I do a wide range of photo work, I don’t do a lot of photographing babies. I feel so close to tears just writing about it. Please do check out the organisation; I think they really are something incredibly special.

There was also a piece about them on the MSNBC show http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/23481435#23481435. Okay, the background music is all a bit much, but bear with it!
