Cry Baby

The wife is currently in tears - she has just read that babys show crying behaviours and startle responces in the womb at this stage! Baby is not even born and it may be crying...and now i have a crying wife...i suspect it will only get worse when its born.. scared yet?

The baby isn't sad. It is discovering all of his/her abilities. Your wife... she is going to cry. Her hormones are on overload. She will be o.k. Just keep loving her.

Ahhh, the hormone overload of pregnancy!! Isn't it a wonderful thing to behold---from a great distance! It will be much better by the time your child is about 6 months old.

They also discover the fun of genitalia in the womb, and the usefulness of thumbs for grasping things and sucking...they discover many things during their sojourn in the broth of life. It's OK.

If the little one cries within, it still hears Mum's heart hushing and shushing along, a comfort beyond measure and unmatched in our own dry, workaday world. It won't cry for long, but rather will find Mum's kidney to paddle, a bladder on which to rest its head, another kidney to rest an elbow on, and the endless amusement of pushing at the walls and watching them stretch to accommodate a foot, a hand, a head, a bottom...and feel the delight of the one carrying it without ever really knowing what it all means, and not really caring...just...experiencing. Just...happily being.

MOre than likely hormones... they hit with a force stronger than a tornado or hurricane...She will cry, and 10 mins later be laughing it up, then start crying again.
Just love her and let her know you are there.
